	Paul Brown bass Paul has been playing music for 29 years. He studied bass and composition at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and oud with Haig Manoukian and Necati Celik in Mendocino, California. While comfortable in many different styles, he has found the intricate rhythms and improvisational aspects of Balkan music challenging and exciting. Originally one of Édessa's "friends," he was delighted to join the band as "the bottom we didn't know we needed." Paul also performs with Souren Baronian's Taksim and Orkestra Keyif, and has been house bassist for the Eastern European Folklife Center's Balkan Music and Dance Camp for nine years.
